About Me

My name is Lucie Bugg and I have been an Ofsted Registered Childminder since June 2006, although I have worked as a professional and qualified child care provider since 1994. I am registered to care for six children under the age of 8 years, of which only three may be under 5 years (unless attending school full-time) and one may be under 1 year. I may also care for 2/3 children over 8 years. This includes my own two children.  I offer full or part- time care Monday to Thursday, usually between the hours of 8 am and 5:30 pm, and I am happy to care for children from 6 weeks old up to high school age.

I live with my husband, Steven, and two sons, Cayden  (born 22/8/04) and Kasey (born 25/3/12) in a 3-bedroom semi-detached house in the Sidegate Lane Primary School catchment, and I drop off and collect from Sidegate Primary School and Little Acorns Pre-school (Oaks and Acorns).

I aim to provide a fun, loving and home-from-home environment in which I can stimulate a child's development in all areas. I do this through play which promotes equal opportunities, such as, outdoor activities, arts and crafts, books, music, cooking, imaginative play and outings. My home is as safe and secure as possible and is a non-smoking environment, and I have many policies in place to safeguard the children in my care and their families.

Because I only care for a small number of children at a time I am able to offer plenty of attention and appropriate conversation, which will boost a child’s confidence and self-esteem, and I am better able to cater for their individual needs no matter what their age and abilities.

I have many written policies and procedures that are available for you to read, including ones on Safeguarding and how to make a complaint. These are available to view via the  Baby’s Days Online System which I use for all of my paperwork, from tracking children's progress through to contracts, policies and permissions, accident records and Invoices. You will be given your own unique log-in details which will enable you to view your child’s details and information relevant to them via the main website or an easy to install app for your smartphone or tablet. For information on bay’s days, please go to their website: http://www.babysdaysforparents.com/

Security standards and compliance are especially important particularly where personal data is collected and stored, you need to know that your data is safe and secure. Baby’s Days have an ISO 27001 certified data centre which means you can be assured of standardised security levels and practices.

I also follow the current GDPR requirements to keep all information I hold about you and your family totally secure, and I am registered with ICO.

As it is you, the parent, who makes decisions on your child’s behalf it is very important that we work in partnership with one another in order to maximise the quality of service and care which I provide to you and your family using the Early Years Foundation Stage profile to access each child's developmental needs.

As an Ofsted registered childminder I have shown a Childcare Inspector that I am able to meet national standards and have been graded as providing a 'Good' standard of care:                                        https://reports.ofsted.gov.uk/provider/17/EY335630)

I use the  Early Years Foundation Stage to guide the care I provide to babies and young children, making regular observations of the children in my care so I know when they are ready to move onto the next level of their development. I will share these on a regular basis with parents via a Learning Journal, which may include photographs and examples of your child’s work. I also operate a contact book for younger children and babies, where I record the events and activities of each day, so parents are kept fully informed regarding the care of their child.

I promote equal opportunities and will never discriminate against any race, culture, gender, ability, lifestyle or religion.
